Walcott Truckers Jamboree Celebrates America’s Truckers In Style!

WALCOTT, IOWA — The World’s Largest Truckstop has once again hosted the biggest trucking celebration of its kind. The 27th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, held July 13-14, hosted over 32,000 drivers and their families. During the two days, guests were treated to 200 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest with 80 trucks competing, many contestants and trucks were new to this year’s competition; an amazing antique truck display with over 200 vehicles; delicious Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker’s Best Friend Pet Contest; Trucker Olympics; Carnival Games complete; three live bands including driver favorite Leland Martin; a fantastic fireworks display and loads of fun! The Wells Fargo stagecoach also made an appearance and gave rides. Iowa 80’s new Super Truck Showroom Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening also took place during the Jamboree in front of “America the Beautiful”, the muraled tractor-trailer showcased in the new 30,000 square foot store.

“We want our driver customers to know how much we appreciate them”, says Delia Moon Meier, Oakgrove 70 Petro Senior Vice President. “Professional drivers are the reason that we have everything; from groceries to clothes to the cars we drive. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is the perfect chance for us to say ‘thank you’ and show drivers just how important they are to us and to America. It also gives the general public a chance to get a close-up look at some of the most fantastic trucks on the road. It is a great event for the image of the trucking industry.”

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree began in 1979 featuring a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks. That first Jamboree only attracted a few hundred drivers, a far cry from the more than 30,000 it attracts today. Even though the size of the Jamboree has changed over the years, you can bet that its focus hasn’t. Celebrating America’s Truckers is definitely what the Jamboree is all about. It is Iowa 80’s way of thanking drivers for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight.

The 28th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree is scheduled for Thursday and Friday July 12 & 13, 2007.
