Iowa 80 Truckstop Helps Fund SMART Boards for Walcott School

WALCOTT, IOWA — Iowa 80 Truckstop, The World’s Largest Truckstop, has awarded Walcott School a $3,250 grant to apply toward the installation of SMART Boards in classrooms.  The grant was available as part of BP’s Fueling Communities Program.  As a BP Fuel Retailer, Iowa 80 Truckstop was allowed to select a qualified school or charitable organization to receive funding.  “Quality education is something we feel very strongly about and this was an exciting opportunity for Iowa 80 Truckstop to help support the Walcott School and their SMART Board initiative,” says Delia Meier, Iowa 80 Group Senior Vice President.

The Walcott School and Walcott PTA have a goal of installing SMART Boards in all classrooms by 2014 and is currently working to raise the funds needed. “It is important that we utilize technology to enhance the learning experience for our students. We are very grateful that Iowa 80 Truckstop was able to secure this funding for us,” says Dr. Erica Goldstone, Walcott School Principal.  “It is the perfect way to kick off our SMART Board fund drive.”
