Iowa 80 Trucking Museum To Break Ground for Expansion on July 12th

WALCOTT, IOWA — The Iowa 80 Trucking Museum is set to break ground for a new addition on Thursday, July 12th at 2:00 pm during the Walcott Truckers Jamboree. The ground breaking ceremony will be held at the current museum at 505 Sterling Drive, Walcott, Iowa.

The expansion will add 5,000 square feet to the existing structure bringing the total to approximately 20,000 square feet. The addition will include a movie theater, more truck display space, restrooms and a gift store. “This museum was a dream of my father’s”, says Delia Moon Meier. “We are very excited to be able to expand the museum so we can do an even better job of sharing trucking’s history with the general public.”

When completed in Summer 2008, the museum with be able to house a total of 45 trucks for display at any given time. A sidewalk will also be constructed from the truck parking area to the museum so professional drivers can easily visit.
