Iowa 80 Kitchen to be Featured on Food Paradise

WALCOTT, IOWA — Iowa 80 Kitchen, the full-service restaurant inside the World’s Largest Truckstop, will be featured on the Travel Channel’s show Food Paradise.  The episode will feature great food at truckstops.  Filming took place on August 20, 2012.  The film crew spoke with customers about their favorite Iowa 80 dishes as well as why they keep coming back.             “Drivers appreciate the home cooked meals they can order from our menu.  They also enjoy the buffet and the wide variety of salads we offer,” says Bill Peel, Iowa 80 Kitchen operator.  “Our apple dumpling seems to be a big hit too.”

The Peel Family has been running the Iowa 80 Kitchen restaurant since partnering with the Moon Family, who owns and operates the truckstop, in 1964.  “I remember riding with my dad out to this piece of land in Walcott to meet with Bill Moon, and thinking to myself that this seemed crazy.  Bill and my dad came to an agreement and I must say that I’m glad they did,” laughs Peel.

The episode will air on the Travel Channel this coming spring.
