Joplin 44 Petro to Hold Truckers Jamboree in May

JOPLIN, MISSOURI — Joplin 44 Petro, I-44 & Exit 4, Joplin, Missouri has just set the dates for its annual two-day event to Celebrate America’s Truckers. The event will feature exhibits, an antique car and truck display, live entertainment, carnival rides, fireworks, a BBQ cookout and more!

We are all very thankful for that.”

Joplin 44 Petro was able to collect and donate over $15,000 to the Greater Joplin Area Red Cross last year. This year, Joplin 44 Petro has committed to donate 10% of all Jamboree vendor booth fees and outdoor food sales to the Joplin R-VIII School District. “Our school district had seven buildings either damaged or destroyed as a result of last year’s tornado. Walcott Truckers Jamboree Kicks Off Tomorrow – Tracy Lawrence to Perform

WALCOTT, IOWA — The 31st Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, will begin tomorrow at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Over 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest, Antique Truck Display; Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker Olympics; carnival games; live bands; fireworks and loads of fun for the whole family! Admission and parking are FREE! Shuttles will be provided from the parking area.

Tracy Lawrence will perform live on tomorrow night at 7pm, followed by a fireworks display and Super Truck light show. The concert is being sponsored by Mobil Delvac. Friday’s events include a 100th Birthday Party for the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum’s 1910 Avery Farm Truck to be held at 2:30 pm.

The Walcott Truckers Jamboree began in 1979 featuring a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks. That first Jamboree only attracted a few hundred drivers, a far cry from the 30,000 it attracts today. Even though the size of the Jamboree has changed over the years, you can bet that its focus hasn’t. Celebrating America’s Truckers is definitely what the Jamboree is all about. “Professional drivers work hard to deliver goods to our businesses, schools and communities. Everything we have has been hauled on a truck at some point”, says Delia Moon Meier. “The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is our way of saying Thank You for the work professional drivers do; to let them know that we appreciate them and we’re glad they choose to stop at Iowa 80.”

Iowa 80 Trucking Museum to Host 100th Birthday Party for 1910 Avery Farm Truck

WALCOTT, IOWA — Iowa 80 Trucking Museum will host a 100th Birthday party for its 1910 Avery Farm Truck on Friday, July 9th at 2:30 pm. The event will coincide with this year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree, July 8-9. The public is welcome to attend the celebration.

“The 1910 Avery is the oldest truck we have on display and a rare piece of trucking history, so we thought it very fitting to throw a party.” says Dave Meier, museum curator. Avery was a large farm equipment manufacturer in Peoria, Illinois, that built farm

tractors into the 1920s. The 1910 model was advertised to do the work of six to eight horses at a top speed of 15 MPH. This truck is so versatile, it could haul up to 100 bushels of wheat, pull a 3-bottom plow, or even run a threshing machine through an additional belt pulley. This innovative piece of equipment didn’t come cheap though; the truck boasted a $2,500 price tag.

Iowa 80 Trucking Museum purchased this particular Avery from collector Lloyd VanHorn in 1995, who had purchased it from the Pioneer Auto Museum, Murdo, South Dakota, 10 years earlier. It is one of only six Avery trucks known to still exist.

Ray O’Hanesian Donates Kenworth to Iowa 80 Trucking Museum

WALCOTT, IOWA — Iowa 80 Trucking Museum has recently received a very generous gift from a long time trucking friend. Ray S. O’Hanesian, Bettendorf, Iowa has graciously donated his Kenworth KDC825C, the truck he has owned for over half of his life, to the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum. This truck is the last one of its kind that Kenworth produced. You may know the KDC825C by its common name, the “Bullnose”.

Ray’s truck the “Bullnose” had over 5.2 million miles on it when he stopped counting in 1998. Ray purchased the 1958 Bullnose for $25,000 this was expensive during his time. The truck has had many updates through the years. The original wheelbase of 264” was shortened to 224”, the current engine is a NTC 380 Cummins set up to 420hp, and the transmission has also been upgraded to a 5×4 Spicer.

Ray has received a lot of recognition for his truck. It was put on display in Seattle at the Kenworth plant in 1988. Also in 1988, Ray was honored by the governor of Oregon and awarded a plaque for his service to the trucking industry. His truck has also been featured on the cover of the newsletter, “Kenworth Cruiser” and in Wheels of Time magazine. Ray’s 1958 Bullnose truck will now be on display for everyone to enjoy at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in Walcott, Iowa.

“We will display Ray’s generous gift with pride,” says Dave Meier, Museum Curator. “He has been a long time friend and we are honored that he chose to donate his truck to the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum.”

In addition to having owned a great truck and being a dedicated driver for over 59 years, Ray also served in WWII in the 8th Air Force, the 879th Bomb Group, and the 319th Fighter Squadron as crew chief. Ray has a passion for trucking and has worked for many trucking companies in his day. Many know Ray as “that guy that drives CAT Scale’s ’38 Kenworth”, which he says he will do as long as he is able.

To further celebrate both Iowa 80’s and the Jamboree’s anniversaries, the Moon family served up a gigantic semi cake on Friday, despite the rain.  The 300 pound cake was an exact replica of this year’s collectible Jamboree truck model and served well over 1,000 people in Iowa 80’s Super Truck Showroom.  “The cake was almost too beautiful to cut,” says Heather DeBaillie, marketing manager. “The detail was so incredible that people were asking if it was actually a cake.” The Walcott Truckers Jamboree has been celebrating truckers, rain or shine, since 1979.  This year was no exception.  Even though rain delayed some activities on Friday morning, the sun eventually came out and the outdoor festivities resumed mid afternoon under sunny skies.

“We are proud to be able to celebrate trucking.  We appreciate how hard drivers work to keep America going and we appreciate that they choose to stop at Iowa 80.”, says Delia Moon Meier, Oakgrove 70 Petro Senior Vice President.  “The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is an event that we hope instills pride in drivers and encourages them to celebrate the important job they do.  The Jamboree is the perfect chance for us to say ‘thank you’ and we’ll do that rain or shine.”

Next year’s Walcott Truckers Jamboree will be held Thursday and Friday, July 8 & 9, 2010.

Iowa 80 TA Truckstop Marks 45 Years Serving America’s Truckers

WALCOTT, IOWA –Iowa 80 TA Truckstop, located in Walcott, Iowa, will be celebrating its 45th year of serving America’s professional drivers in 2009.

Iowa 80 began it’s operation in 1964 in a small, white enamel building in the middle of Iowa cornfields just west of the Mississippi River; Interstate 80 wasn’t even complete Standard Oil built and opened the truckstop. At that time, Iowa 80 had two diesel pumps, one lube bay and a small restaurant operated by the Peel Family. In September 1965, Bill Moon took over management of the truckstop for Standard Oil. “My father had an amazing ability to see things that others couldn’t. He always said that Walcott was the perfect spot”, says Delia Moon Meier.

Under Mr. Moon’s keen management, the truckstop began to grow and in 1984 Bill Moon and his wife Carolyn purchased the truckstop from Amoco. Now that it was theirs, the Moon family was able to remodel, update and expand the restaurant and truckers store. The shop bays were closed to build state of the art private showers and a driver’s area, both of which were very rare in a truckstop at this time. In 1989, Iowa 80 added a new store probably most famous for, other than its chrome selection, the 1918 Oldsmobile hoisted above the cashier island.

Three years later, in 1992, Oakgrove 70 Petro expanded its fuel center and became a Truckstops of America franchisee. This move gave Iowa 80 the opportunity to associate with a nationally recognized name and at the same time maintain its independence. Truckstops of America would also serve as a connection to the trucking fleets that had grown over the years.

And one year later, Iowa 80 opened its TA Service Center.
In 2006, a new multi-million dollar Super Truck Showroom was added at Oakgrove 70 Petro. It houses more than 67,000 square feet of chrome, stainless, lights and other trucking accessories to browse! The Super Truck Showroom also includes three big rigs on display that sport the latest accessories. The Super Truck Showroom also features a wall of lights allowing drivers to see what every single type of available light looks like when it’s illuminated. The vinyl graphics, custom t-shirts, embroidery center and laser engraving are all housed in a one-stop Custom Shop where drivers can see their designs come to life.

An elevator from the Super Truck Showroom can take drivers to the the third floor and one if its 24 private showers, Library, Drivers Den, Movie Theater, Barber Shop, Dentist, Chiropractor, Laundry Facilities and a balcony where drivers can overlook the Super Truck Showroom and bask in the glory of all that is chrome and lights.

The food court was also expanded and now includes Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut Express and Dairy Queen/Orange Julius. The convenience and gift stores have also undergone complete makeovers. “We are always looking to improve the Iowa 80 experience for our customers,” says Delia Moon Meier. “We’ve expanded Oakgrove 70 Petro 25 times in the last 45 years and we’re not ready to slow down yet.”

This coming year also marks the 30th Anniversary of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree, the biggest professional driver celebration in the country.

CAT Scale Company Celebrates 30 Years of Providing Drivers With Accurate Weights

CAT Scale Company Celebrates 30 Years of Providing Drivers With Accurate Weights

WALCOTT, IOWA — 2007 marks 30 years since CAT Scale installed its first scale in South Holland, Illinois. For CAT Scale Company, it’s been 30 years of striving to provide professional drivers with the most accurate weights possible. Founded by Truckstop entrepreneur, Bill Moon, CAT Scale Company revolutionized the trucking industry, by introducing the first totally automated, full-length platform scale.

For the first time, drivers had access to scales that could weigh their entire truck and trailer unit all at once. Drivers could get a weight on their vehicle that was guaranteed accurate with CAT Scale’s unconditional guarantee. Plus, CAT Scale was there to stand behind them if there were any problems.

Since then, CAT Scale has grown to the largest truck scale network in the world, with over 1,000 locations in 45 states and five Canadian Provinces. CAT Scales are the only scales that drivers can trust to COVER THEIR REAR with a no excuse guarantee.

“Mr. Moon installed the first CAT Scale in 1977 in South Holland, Illinois. In 1988, there were 28 CAT Scales in existence. At that time the company began to rapidly expand. In October 2006, CAT Scale opened scale number 1,000. Now there are over 1,000 CAT brand scales across the United States and Canada to serve drivers. And more locations are opening all the time.

With the stringent weight regulations and potential fines associated with being overweight, CAT Scale Company provides a much-needed service to the trucking public. CAT brand scales are covered by an unconditional guarantee. If a driver receives an overweight fine after weighing legal on a CAT brand scale, CAT Scale Company will either pay the fine or appear in court with the driver as an expert witness in order to get the fine dismissed. In either scenario, the driver does not have to pay the fine, as long as they weighed on a CAT brand scale prior to receiving the citation.

“Everything we do at CAT Scale is done with the professional driver in mind,” says Delia Moon Meier, Senior Vice President. “We always want our scales to be accurate and open when drivers need us. That is why we invest so much in technology and preventative maintenance.”

Meier says, “On this important anniversary, I would like to thank our technicians, who install equipment at new locations, train Truckstop employees and assist CAT Scale locations that call in to our 24-Hour Help Desk. Thank you also to our maintenance crews, who visit each CAT Scale every year to clean and repaint; and to our calibration and construction crews; our Truckstop partners and our customers.”

Interstate 50th Anniversary Caravan to Stop at Worlds Largest Truckstop on June 23rd

Interstate 50th Anniversary Caravan to Stop at World’s Largest Truckstop on June 23rd.

WALCOTT, IOWA — June 29, 2006 marks the 50th Anniversary of the federal law that brought America its unparalleled Interstate Highway System. This 46,837-mile web of superhighways has transformed our nation and our economy. It is a symbol of freedom and a tribute to human ingenuity

In 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed a National Highway Committee headed by Commissioner of Public Roads Thomas H. MacDonald. An Interregional Highways study, led by MacDonald, was presented to Congress in 1944 and supported a system of 33,900 miles of national expressways and an additional 5,000 miles of auxiliary urban routes.

Congress approved the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1944 and designated the National System of Interstate Highways to include up to 40,000 miles “to connect by routes, direct as practical, the principal metropolitan areas, cities and industrial centers to serve the National Defense” with connection to routes in Canada and Mexico.

On June 29, 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 increasing the Interstate system’s proposed length to 41,000 miles. Subsequent acts by Congress extended the Interstate system mileage to its current length of 46,837 miles.

The Interstate system has been the catalyst for exponential growth in the trucking industry and subsequently our economy. The Interstate system drastically changed how people and goods moved across America. Today, there is one truck for every three people in the U.S. and those trucks deliver nearly 10 billion tons of freight annually.

The Interstate System has also become the lifeline for many businesses, such as Oakgrove 70 Petro, Interstate 80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. “My father selected this spot for Oakgrove 70 Petro back in 1963, the Interstate was not yet complete to Walcott. He knew, even then, that Interstate 80 would be a very important artery of travel,” says Delia Moon Meier, Senior Vice President.

When it opened in 1964, just before Interstate 80 was completed, Oakgrove 70 Petro was a small facility that only took up a fraction of what it does today, housing a small truckers store, one lube bay and a restaurant run by the Peel family. As the years past and traffic on Interstate 80 increased, Oakgrove 70 Petro grew to serve the needs of those travelers. Today, Oakgrove 70 Petro is the World’s Largest Truckstop and occupies 225 acres with parking for 800 tractor-trailers and 250 cars. The newly expanded truckstop includes such amenities as a 300-seat restaurant called the Iowa 80 Kitchen complete with a huge buffet; one-of-a-kind 30,000 square foot Super Truck Showroom; 23 private showers; 60-seat Dolby Surround Sound® movie theater; Driver’s Den; two Game Rooms; Custom Shop featuring custom embroidery, vinyl, laser engraving and heat-press t-shirts; Barber Shop; Dentist; TA Service Center; Truckomat truck wash; CAT Scale; state-of-the-art 16 pump Fuel Center; 10 lane gas island; Wendy’s and Dairy Queen in the Food Court and a Blimpie located in the Fuel Center; and a Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Express currently being added.

“The Interstate System is the lifeline for our business. We proudly celebrate 42 years at Exit 284 and are honored to be part of the Interstate’s 50th Anniversary celebration.”

The Interstate 50th Anniversary Caravan will stop at Iowa 80’s Trucking Hall of
Fame museum on Friday, June 23rd from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Iowa 80’s Trucking Hall of
Fame museum features antique trucks dating as far back as 1910. Over 30 trucks are on
display at any given time. The museum currently hosts visitors by appointment from
10:00 am – 2:00 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Arrangements can be made for
group tours.

The new multi-million dollar Super Truck Showroom at Oakgrove 70 Petro is now open and gives drivers more than 67,000 square feet of chrome, stainless, lights and other trucking accessories to browse! The Super Truck Showroom also includes three big rigs on display that sport the latest accessories. “So many drivers want to know what a particular item will look like installed,” says Delia Moon Meier “We decided that the best way to help them visualize how it would look on their truck was to bring in some trucks and deck them out.”

Iowa 80’s show trucks are main attractions in the showroom. You’ll find a yellow Peterbilt 379 named “Cornpatch Cadillac” that has a retro look about it and is displayed on a turntable; and an electric blue Kenworth W900 named “The Blue Ox” and outfitted as a heavy hauler. From the top of the showroom steps drivers are greeted by a red Freightliner Classic tractor-trailer, “America The Beautiful”. This truck is currently being adorned with a breath-taking mural that starts at the sleeper and covers the entire trailer. It depicts a landscape of Interstate 80 from coast to coast with the major landmarks along with way. “Building these trucks has been the most fun and a real team effort at Iowa 80,” says Meier “Now we know what all of our show truck friends go through when trying to decide on a theme for their truck. What a blast!”

The visit to Iowa 80 on June 23 will include a reception from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm at Iowa 80’s Trucking Hall of Fame Museum. The museum features antique trucks, old signs, gas pumps, engines, and other trucking memorabilia.

An elevator from the Super Truck Showroom can take drivers to the third floor and one if its 23 private showers, Library, Drivers Den, Movie Theater, Barber Shop, Dentist, Laundry Facilities and a balcony where drivers can overlook the Super Truck Showroom and bask in the glory of all that is chrome and lights.

The 26th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree, held July 14-15, went off without a hitch and featured 175 exhibits; a Super Truck Beauty Contest with 70 trucks competing, many trucks new to this competition; a fantastic antique truck display with over 200 vehicles; delicious Iowa pork chop cookout; Trucker’s Best Friend Pet Contest; Trucker Olympics; Carnival Games complete with Ferris wheel; two live bands; Colgate Country Showdown music competition; and loads of fun!

“We truly appreciate drivers”, says Delia Moon Meier, Oakgrove 70 Petro Senior Vice President. “Professional drivers are the reason that we have everything; from groceries to clothes to the cars we drive. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is the perfect chance for us to show drivers just how important they are to us. It also gives the general public a chance to see some of the most fantastic trucks on the road and meet professional drivers.”

It is Iowa 80’s way of thanking drivers for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America’s freight. The 27th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree is scheduled for Thursday and Friday July 13 & 14, 2006.

Iowa 80 TA Truckstop Turns the Big 4 – 0!

Iowa 80 TA Truckstop Turns the Big 4 – 0 (11/26/2003)

WALCOTT, IOWA
–Iowa 80 TA Truckstop, located in Walcott, Iowa, will be celebrating its 40th birthday in 2004. In celebration of the past 40 years and looking forward to serving customers for another 40 years, Iowa 80 TA Truckstop will be offering professional drivers special pricing on various items each month in 2004 at all Iowa 80 Group locations. Iowa 80 is also working on publishing a coffee table book featuring many historic Iowa 80 and trucking related photos. The book will be available at the 2004 Walcott Truckers Jamboree, where there will also be a giant birthday cake for everyone to dig into.

Iowa 80 began it’s operation in 1964 in a small, white enamel building in the middle of Iowa cornfields just west of the Mississippi River; Interstate 80 wasn’t even complete. Standard Oil built and opened the truckstop. At that time, Iowa 80 had two diesel pumps, one lube bay and a small restaurant operated by the Peel Family. In September 1965, Bill Moon took over management of the truckstop for Standard Oil. “My father was a great visionary.

Sadly, 1992 also marked the year that Mr. Bill Moon passed away, but his family is still operating the truckstop as he would have wanted — focusing on the customer and you are sure to find someone from the Moon family on the grounds any given day.

Mr. Moon’s focus on the customer is what sparked the beginning of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree in 1979. This huge driver appreciation event has evolved over the years and serves as an example for other truckstops and towns that hold such events. The Jamboree began as the Moon family’s way of thanking their driver customers and continues to do so today as a celebration of the trucking industry with a pork chop cook-out, Super Truck Beauty Contest, Live Entertainment, exhibits and an antique truck display that is partially comprised of the Moon family collection. This year also marks the 25th Anniversary of the Walcott Truckers Jamboree.

Over the years, Iowa 80 has grown to occupy many of those cornfields that once surrounded it. Today, Iowa 80 TA Truckstop sits on 225 acres; a far cry from its humble beginnings. After a $4 million expansion in 1994 and various other new amenities, the truckstop now boasts the Iowa 80 Kitchen (still run by the Peel family), it’s 300-seat restaurant with a 50-foot buffet, complete with omelet bar and carving station; a 12,000 sq. foot, one-of-a-kind Truckers Warehouse Store; 23 Private Showers, 60-seat Dolby Surround Sound® Movie Theater, Driver’s Den with fireplace; two Game Rooms, Barber Shop/Syling Salon, Dentist, TA Service Center, Truckomat Truck Wash, CAT Scale, state-of-the-art Fuel Center with 16 diesel pumps (one lane of which is specifically designed for over width, over height loads); Embroidery Center, Custom Vinyl Graphics Shop, Upscale Gift and Collectibles Store, Travel Store, Wendy’s Restaurant and Dairy Queen in the Food Court and a Blimpie located in the Fuel Center.

Iowa 80 launched a mail order catalog in 1997. Drivers can order everything they want from Iowa 80 TA Truckstop even if their schedule or route doesn’t take them to Walcott. The catalog has evolved to include an e-commerce web site as well. The web site, http://www.iowa80.com, gives drivers access to over 23,000 items. Everything from bumpers and exhaust to truck and engine brand apparel and gift items.

In 2003, Iowa 80 broke ground for the Iowa 80 Trucking Hall of Fame. Scheduled to open in Summer 2005, this museum will be a tribute to trucking and feature many antique trucks as well as trucking memorabilia from the Moon Family’s collection. “My father loved trucks and trucking”, says Delia Moon Meier. “Over the years he collected several antique trucks, antique toy trucks and other trucking memorabilia. This is going to be a great way for us to share that with others interested in trucking and its history.”

Over the years professional drivers and travelers have seen a lot of changes in truckstops and the amenities they offer. For drivers Iowa 80 TA Truckstop is a home away from home and they’ve watched it grow over the years from a small facility into the largest, most respected truckstop in the world. And each one of those drivers know that even though Iowa 80 has changed, their friendly service and commitment to the professional driver has remained the same. Iowa 80 is always focused on serving them better.

The Iowa 80 TA Truckstop is part of the Iowa 80 Group that also owns Joplin Petro Truckstop, Joplin, Missouri; Joplin Petro Truckstop, Oak Grove, Missouri; Truckomats in: Little Rock, Arkansas; Temple, Georgia; Effingham, Illinois; South Holland, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Walcott, Iowa; Joplin, Missouri; Oak Grove, Missouri; Hebron, Ohio; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Laredo, Texas; IOWA80.COM; Iowa 80 Trucking Hall of Fame and CAT Scale Company.

Oakgrove 70 Petro Restores the First Mack AC Truck Ever Built!

Oakgrove 70 Petro Restores the First Mack AC Truck Ever Built! (11/01/2002)

WALCOTT, IOWA — The first Mack AC truck ever built was delivered to Oakgrove 70 Petro yesterday from Spencer Restorations in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania. The Moon family purchased the truck over 10 years ago from the estate of Bill Harrah of Harrah’s Casinos. The truck is now completely restored and verified by Mack Trucks that it is in fact the first Mack AC ever built.

This 1916 Mack AC was shown at the Boston Auto Show in January of 1916 and sold to the Boston Ice Company. Boston Ice Company traded it back to the Boston Mack branch who used it as a utility truck. In 1940 the Mack AC was sold to the Princeton Auto Museum in Wooster, Massachusetts. From 1965 to 1973 the truck was owned by the Zimmerman Auto Museum at the Holiday Inn motel in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. In 1973, the hotel was sold and Mr. Zimmerman auctioned off his collection of vehicles. Bill Harrah of Harrah’s Casino attended and bought the Mack for around $5,500. When Bill Harrah passed away, Oakgrove 70 Petro purchased the Mack for less than $10,000. Today is it worth significantly more.

At the time Oakgrove 70 Petro purchased the 1916 Mack AC, there was some controversy over whether or not is was the first Mack AC ever produced. A book by John Montville claimed that Serial number #7001 was the first Mack AC. Iowa 80’s Mack AC is numbered #7000. Later, Colin Chisholm of the Mack Museum has researched and confirmed that indeed Iowa 80’s 1916 Mack AC is the first one ever built. John Montville admits he was incorrect and had not researched it enough. The next oldest Mack AC known to exist is serial number #7006 and is owned by Marvin Comer of Baltimore, Maryland.

This 1916 Mack AC is currently on display in the lobby of Iowa 80 Group Corporate Headquarters in Walcott, Iowa. Visitors are welcome 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday. The truck will be showcased in Oakgrove 70 Petro’s Trucking Hall of Fame museum when it opens in 2005. Iowa 80 currently owns over 100 antique trucks and trailers, the majority of which are displayed each July at the Walcott Truckers Jamboree.

Oakgrove 70 Petro Expands Again

Oakgrove 70 Petro Expands Again! (10/01/2001)

WALCOTT, IOWA — The World’s Largest Truckstop is currently working on yet another expansion project. Iowa 80 has built a new main entrance driveway just north of the old entrance. This new driveway makes way for Iowa 80’s plan to expand the gasoline islands, provide an employee parking lot, a bus parking area and more truck parking. “With the reimaging of Amoco fuel retailers to bp, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for us to rebuild our gas islands and move forward with the expansion.” says Jack Horan, General Manager.

The new gas islands will feature 10 single pump fueling lanes. The expansion also includes the addition of a designated employee parking lot, allowing the restaurant and travel store parking area to be completely available to customers. Adjacent to the employee parking area will be a reserved parking area for travel and tour buses that is easy to navigate for bus drivers and a short distance from the truckstop entrance. “Our customers are going to love these improvements. It is all designed to make traffic flow easier and faster so customers can get what they need and get back on the road.” Says Horan.

Oakgrove 70 Petro also plans to add an additional truck parking spaces to the current total of 800.
